As a teacher for the Ottawa Catholic School Board.  I noticed that many of the schools had donation boxes for milk bags in their classrooms.  When I asked about the milk bags I was told that they were being collected to make sleeping mats but that the school board didn't have enough people to crochet the mats.  I thought that this is something I would really like to help with and started talking to students about the project.  Many of them were interested so I had to quickly teach my self how to crochet using YouTube and the rest is history!
A few of us joined together every Wednesday night for a  year to complete their sleeping mats.
